Leo Kottke - From The Cradle To The Grave

Feeling like a ship out of the ocean
About to go aground on desert sands
Feeling like an eagle losing motion
Tired of flying, ain't no where to land

Every day's all the same
Same old ways never change
Going from the cradle to the grave

I don't think I've ever felt so helpless
Always feeling like my hands are tied
Failure at most everything I've dealt with
Ruining most everything I've tried

Every day's all the same
Same old ways never change
Going from the cradle to the grave

And every day's all the same
Same always never change
Going from the cradle to the grave

Running from my life at every moment
Never having time to catch my breath
Sometimes I wish this crazy race were over
The thought of living scares me half to death

And every day's all the same
Same always never change
Going from the cradle to the grave

White Chocolate - Midnight Flight

Groovy, under the radar, slightly funky hard rock/psych from 1973. Apparently these guys used to back the likes of Buddy Miles and Arthur Lee.

Bluesy bonehead cruncher from Bismarck circa 1971. On the Belter records label out of Spain although the band was from Belgium.

Sacred Miracle Cave - Liquid In Me

I feel like i'm the only person in the world who likes this band....? Heavy, doomy, dark noisy and psychedelic. What's NOT to like?

I wish i could have seen them live back in the day, i bet they ruled live.

Orange Alabaster Mushroom - The Slug / Ethel Tripped A Mean Gloss

I never heard of the "Orange Alabaster Mushroom" before last week. I stumbled upon it in my endless search for music via the interwebs. I liked what i heard, found a copy of this 7 inch and jumped on it. Here is what the inter webs say about the "group":

Ontario's answer to the Bevis Frond, the Orange Alabaster Mushroom is bedroom D.I.Y. auteur Greg Watson, whose one-man band reproductions of classic circa-1967 psych-pop are so dead-on perfect in every detail that one could play this collection of 1991-1998 recordings for any fan of Nuggets-era obscurities and they'd think it was authentic circa 1967 psych-pop.

D.F.X. - No Frills

Anybody know anything about this band D.F.X.? From Netcong N.J.? Sounds pretty good. A little glamish / party metal, a little early Motley Crue-ish. So i suspect they are a bit poser-ish, but since this never came with a picture sleeve? and i can't see what they look like, i'm trying not to pass too much judgement! I like the EP but "She Likes To Rock" sounds like lame ass Poison or some other 80's pussy LA Hair bullshit. The Guitar player has some good moves and the singer sounds good sans a few Vince Neil squeals here and there.

Snow - Song Of The Sirens

A few weeks ago I posted a 45 by Snow here: This is an album cut from the self titled album on E pic records from 1968. This is a pretty heavy, dare i say doom-ish track for 1968. Maybe proto-doom? I mean Black Sabbath is a few years away and I can't think go too many bands that were playing this slow and doom like. Maybe Iron Butterfly or Blue Cheer, but at any rate this is a cool heavy track on an otherwise fairly light affair, that only hints at psych rock here and there, mostly playing the pop angle.

Hush - Magic Touch

Hmmmmm... Not sure what to make of this one. It wants to rock but falls a bit short. They should have turned up that fuzz track in the background and mixed down that clean guitar that is way up front. There is a certain ineptitude that i admire and the guitar player really tries hard for that solo section and the breakdown where it's just the guitar noodle. Even the drum solo section sounds like Fred Flintstone falling down a flight of stairs, yet i still like it somehow....

The Waters - Mother Samwell

Dueling fuzz guitars start out this jam and pretty much the fuzz just keeps coming throughout. Throw in some washed out phaser over the whole vibe and you got a killer heavy garage psych rock jam. Released in January 1969 on the Delcrest label, the group was from Louisville, KY. Looks like this was the bands only release.?

Bungi - Numbers

We came here to turn you one, so we're gonna sing our song!

Total bone head rocker with no real redeeming value but to make you shake your ass and chug your tall boys.

Party the fuck on!

SRC - My Fortune's Coming True

A non album cut by SRC (The Scot Richard Case) out of Detroit. This is from 1970. This may not be a top SRC cut but not being on any of the albums makes the 45 the only place you can hear it. A Bluesy rock tune with some semi fuzzy guitars. Meh.... I'd rather hear "Black Sheep" or "No Secret Destination" but the weirdo collector in me had to have it for the "collection".... Enjoy, or not....

The Guided Tour - 50 BC Man

Another little known garage psych tune by "The Guided Tour". Info is scant. Not a ripper but a good tune with some psych vibes and organ. A little guitar break in the middle. Looks like this was from 1970 and out of Minnesota, other than that i just don't know....
